A Workplace Built on Movement, Culture, and Identity
The Adidas Singapore Office was envisioned as more than a workplace. As the home of both the Singapore-based team and the Southeast Asia Hub, the office needed to reflect a dual identity: one rooted in local community energy, and the other expressing the diversity and dynamism of the wider Southeast Asia region.
Led by Paperspace, with brand direction supported by Rehla Design and EBAO, the design concept brought together sport, culture, creativity, and the authentic heritage of a global sports brand. The result was a workplace where each area could tell its own story, while remaining connected through a cohesive design language.
Within this high-energy environment, acoustic comfort became an important part of the workplace experience. The goal was not to quieten the spirit of the space, but to support the way people focus, meet, train, and collaborate within it.
Designing the Energy of Sound
Acoustic comfort was considered early in the design brief, guided by the client’s global workplace standards and past experience with low acoustic comfort.
For this project, acoustic treatment was especially important across the enclosed spaces, including meeting rooms, focus rooms, training rooms, and the GM room. These rooms needed to support different modes of work, from focused discussions and private conversations to group training and decision-making.
Rather than treating acoustic panels as purely functional surfaces, the design team approached them as part of the overall spatial experience. The panels were not hidden away. They became part of the room’s backdrop, carrying both acoustic purpose and visual expression.
V-Groove detailing introduced depth, rhythm, and architectural definition to selected wall treatments. In other areas, acoustic panels were combined with textured collages, natural materials, and moss wall elements, creating a more layered and tactile environment.
For the training room area, Ceiling Baffles were used to support acoustic comfort from above while maintaining the openness and flexibility needed for a dynamic setting.
Each treatment was shaped by the design intent of the room, allowing acoustic performance and visual storytelling to work together.
When Acoustic Panels Become a Storytelling Canvas
Across the office, acoustic panels were used as a blank canvas for design storytelling.
HEART® Acoustic Plain Panels provided a flexible base for different treatments, allowing each room to carry its own character through colour, texture, cutting, printing, and detailing. In selected spaces, Acoustic Digital Print allowed artwork and visual themes to be applied directly onto the acoustic surface, turning the panels into part of the brand experience.
From Creative Vision to Buildable Detail
Pepperwall supported the project as the acoustic panel sub-contractor, working alongside the design team and main contractor to translate confirmed design concepts into buildable acoustic panel solutions.
The process began with the design team developing concepts for each room and reviewing them with the client. Once the design direction was confirmed, Pepperwall assisted by confirming how the acoustic panel treatments could be adapted, and by preparing the detail drawings required for production and installation.
Certain areas required closer coordination between the design team, main contractor, and Pepperwall. One example was the focus rooms, where textiles and natural textures were applied to the walls before the acoustic panels were installed. This required careful alignment between materials, detailing, and installation sequencing to achieve the intended final effect.
Through this process, the acoustic panels were integrated into the completed interior in a way that supported both the design language and the practical requirements of the space.
A Quieter Layer Behind a High-Energy Workplace
The final acoustic treatment helped ground the enclosed spaces within the Adidas Singapore Office. Beyond improving acoustic comfort, the panels also became a flexible design surface that allowed each room to express its own visual identity.
The project shows how acoustic panels can do more than absorb sound. When thoughtfully planned, they can become part of the visual language of a workplace — supporting comfort, creativity, and the story a space is built to tell.
“The acoustic treatment grounded all the enclosed spaces that we designed, and served as a blank canvas to express our design vision.”
